Restaurant participation in the Arizona Smart Choice Program is voluntary. There is no fee for restaurants to join the
program, but they will need to pay for nutrient analysis services of their menu item(s). Any restaurant can participate
in the Arizona Smart Choice Program provided that at least one of their menu items meets the nutritional
requirements listed below. Certain recipes may only require a few simple changes to the ingredients and portion
sizes to qualify for approval. Each recipe submitted for the program must first be analyzed by a qualified nutrition
analysis and labeling company. Once the recipe meets the criteria for the program, the nutrition analysis and labeling
company will send results to ADHS and the participating restaurant. Upon final approval by ADHS, the
participating restaurant will be enrolled into the program. ADHS will then provide the Arizona Smart Choice
Program logo file to the restaurant for promoting the approved menu item(s) on their marketing materials such as tray
liners and table tents. The restaurant will also receive Arizona Smart Choice Program brochures and holders, two
window decals, menu stickers and implementation guide.
